Truly, Kohei Horikoshi sensei has given birth to some of the best fictional projects in the manga world, both one-shot projects as well as full-blown manga series. But while all of them have garnered considerable fan approval, none comes even close to My Hero Academia, the one series that caught almost the entire manga world in a whirlwind ever since it began a decade ago.

However, as much as fans love the superhero world of MHA, Horikoshi sensei seems to have a lot of trouble keeping the saga alive. The major reason behind this isn’t a lack of creativity, but rather, something that could leave his fans utterly surprised. Yet, this problem has a cure too, and just acquiring one quirk could perhaps set the mangaka free from all such struggles!

Kohei Horikoshi Struggles to Keep My Hero Academia Alive?

My Hero Academia is arguably one of the most interesting fictional works introduced to date in the manga and anime world. However, the mastermind behind this very superhero saga seems to be struggling to keep the fan-favorite world alive.

As it turns out, even though he regularly updates, Mangaka Kohei Horikoshi sensei faces problems with keeping his super-franchise alive. And as many might expect, the reason behind him struggling this way isn’t a lack of creativity or ideas as to how to continue the saga.

Instead, what troubles the mangaka to the point where continuing MHA has become a battlefield for him is his sleep. Yes, you read it right. Sleep is exactly what poses a barrier between Horikoshi sensei successfully resuming his masterpiece work.

According to what the mastermind Mangaka shared in an interview before the manga transformed into the anime phase (via the transcript shared on the r/BokuNoHeroAcademia forum on Reddit):

“I often fall asleep without meaning to. And once I fall asleep I can’t wake up.”

Thus, although surprising it may be, Horikoshi sensei suffers immensely because his sleep overpowers him without his control. But that isn’t all, because the genius sensei has already figured out what could help him out with this problem: A quirk, just like the characters from his MHA world!

During the same interview, Kohei Horikoshi sensei also shared which one would be right for him if he were to discover his own “quirk.” He said:

“I thought about that one already, and that is the “No Need for Sleep” quirk. (Laughs)”

Apparently, as per the reasoning of the mangaka, just like the quirks in his fan-favorite universe help the characters, this ‘No Need for Sleep’ quirk could end up solving all of the unintentionally sleeping problems that Horikoshi sensei faces while working on his My Hero Academia saga.

If he gets the “No Need for Sleep” quirk, maybe the mangaka could work more effortlessly!

Take a look at his own words for it:

“If I were to use this quirk then I would use it normally, and this quirk might make people not feel tired at all.”

Well, for what it’s worth, we sincerely hope Kohei Horikoshi sensei eventually ends up discovering this quirk in himself and acquiring it — as long as it continues to keep one of his best pieces of work to date alive for a long, long time!
