Ayer asserted that he grew up reading DC comics and admires the brand. The filmmaker denied the notion that “Dark and intense is not the brand,” as the majority of the DC films, especially those directed by Zack Synder, are based on dark themes.
Ayer’s response suggests that he firmly holds to the notion that DC is a diverse brand that covers a wide range of films. The filmmaker also mentioned his favorite films from the franchise that are associated with the dark theme.

Recently, when The Hollywood Reporter, tweeted asking, “Where Have All the DC Fans Gone?”, Ayer responded by suggesting that if filmmakers don’t refrain from taking risks, they may witness changes in the dynamics of the franchise.
