Jackie Chan Wishes To Be Treated Same As Robert De Niro and Dustin Hoffman 

Jackie Chan shared in an interview how he genuinely hates to be associated with unwanted, vague, and stereotypical intimations of Kung Fu moves. The Rush Hour star shared that his name is always accompanied with such unwanted body movements by people during his appearances in foreign countries. The Project A star added that this behavior is especially common among fathers with kids. Chan further stated that such movements are not associated with other superstars like Robert De Niro and Dustin Hoffman, and he wished to be referred to like them as well.

“I really hate that. Wherever I go in Europe and America, especially the father with children, ‘Look Jackie Chan!’ [Imitates the actions of other people] Why nobody is like Robert De Niro [Again imitates the same actions] That’s Robert De Niro, Wow!, Dustin Hoffman. Jackie Chan [accompanied by the same actions]. One day I hope people say, ‘Wow, that’s Jackie Chan.”

Jackie Chan Wishes To Be The Asian Robert De Niro And Dustin Hoffman

Despite being celebrated for his jaw-dropping martial arts prowess, Jackie Chan is determined to share other genres and explore other diverse roles. The Chinese Zodiac star shared he has been trying to explore several other roles and make people see him as more than an action star. The Karate Kid star even went ahead and said that he wishes to be the Asian version of celebrated stars like Robert De Niro and Dustin Hoffman.

“I’ve been trying so hard to tell audiences, I’m the star, not the action star. So for the last 10 years, I’ve done Karate Kid and other things. I’ve been trying to let people see I’m an actor. I want to be the Asian Robert De Niro, Dustin Hoffman, all kinds of roles – You can do anything, comedy, drama, ghost, that’s what I want, an actor you can work until you’re 70 or 80.”
