Many movies have explored the theme of a post-apocalyptic setting over the past couple of years. The same is also true for the gaming industry, which has seen the rise of this genre. While each of these game have a similar setting, all of them have something unique to offer.
One such post-apocalyptic game on the horizon is Stellar Blade. Apart from the post-apocalyptic setting, the game also takes inspiration from the 80s and 90s sci-fi works.
In the game, players take on the mission of reclaiming Earth from a mysterious alien race. Moreover, Stellar Blade will be Shift Up’s first title in the console gaming category. While this is an unexplored territory for the developers, Kim Hyung Tae the game director, always wanted to develop action games for the consoles.
The mode for the best visual experience in Stellar Blade
As Stellar Blade is very close to its release, director Kim Hyung Tae and technical director Lee Dong Gi had an exclusive interview with PlayStation. The interview was centered around the company’s background, the game’s inspirations, and more.
Kim threw more light on the development of Stellar Blade, where he spoke about the game taking inspiration from sci-fi manga such as Gunnm. He also added that even though the game has a post-apocalyptic setting, the studios have tried to make it unique. As such, he is confident that players will appreciate the setting of the game.
However, during the interview, Kim revealed one significant detail that many might have missed out on. While we all know the game is a PS exclusive, there is one thing PS5 owners can do to alleviate their experience with the game.
At the end of the interview, Kim mentioned that frame rate is very important while playing an action game. Therefore, the team has put in the effort and offers three modes i.e. Performance, Balanced, and Resolution in Stellar Blade.
Players who want to go for a standard visual experience can choose the Performance Mode. Moreover, those wanting to have a better visual experience can choose the Balanced Mode.
However, Kim does state,
I highly recommend this mode to those who want to enjoy the beautiful graphics
Here he is talking about the Resolution Mode which runs at 30fps for 4K resolution. Therefore, players who are suckers for good graphics should definitely play the game in this Mode.
Stellar Blade will utilize the features of PS5
In the interview, Lee Dong Gi the technical director, also shared another exciting news for fans. Stellar Blade is going to be a PS5 exclusive. As such, the game will utilize some of the unique features of the PS5 console, and the hardware.
According to Gi, the game will harness the features of the current generation PS, to alleviate the gaming experience. The PS5’s haptic feedback will enable the players to sense their game environment. Gi gives the example of a scene from the game, where using a drone, players can take advantage of the features of the consoles. Moreover, each gun in the game will have different adaptive trigger resistance.
While all of these are good for the game, Stellar Blade has been in the middle of some controversies lately. Much of this is related to Eve’s character design which has led to some fingers being pointed at the game.
