Why Was Jennifer Lawrence Scared To Do Stunts

During their appearance on The Ellen Show, Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt chatted about their sci-fi flick, Passengers. However, it was Lawrence’s explanation for declining stunts involving a harness that truly seemed like a page out of a science fiction novel.

“He [Pratt] had to do basically everything,” Lawrence said. “Because, I suffer from paranoia mixed with delusions. So, I thought that if I were in harness I would never be able to bear children.”

Ellen’s eyebrows arched in astonishment as she inquired whether she was suggesting that wearing a harness would somehow affect her ability to have a child. “Yes, I’m sick,” Lawrence acknowledged. Additionally, her hesitation to don a harness occasionally left her co-star in a bit of a bind, figuratively speaking.

“I remember hanging in this harness with this space suit that was really heavy and incredibly uncomfortable,” Chris Pratt explained. “I just remember saying you guys better get this together because Jen is not going to do this.”

Naturally, Jennifer Lawrence ended up performing the required stunt work, driven by, well, financial considerations.

Jennifer Lawrence Broke Another Rule For A Film

In Red Sparrow, the character of Dominika Egorova, a ballerina reluctantly recruited into Russian Intelligence, where her body becomes a weapon, fearlessly presents explicit violence and scenes of n*dity. Jennifer Lawrence’s dedication to her role led her to shed her inhibitions and embrace nudity in order to stay true to the character’s journey.

During her conversation with Ellen DeGeneres, who playfully reminded Lawrence of her earlier statements about avoiding on-screen nudity, the actress quipped, “I think I finally just got hot.” She went on to say,

“To me, it was really just an amazing script and story. I loved the character and I just didn’t want to miss out on it because of like my weird insecurities so I did it and it was really lovely.”

Jennifer Lawrence’s journey through Red Sparrow allowed her to confront her insecurities head-on, and from that point forward, she has continued to move forward, leaving her past uncertainties behind since her time working on the film directed by Francis Lawrence.

Passengers is available for rent or purchase on Google Play.
