Matt Damon has profusely told fans that Batman is no match for Jason Bourne, and he stands by this thought. The actor, who has appeared in four Bourne movies, believes his character can beat the Caped Crusader in a fight.
Of course, Ben Affleck, the former Batman actor and a longtime friend of Damon, won’t go down without defending his honor. In fact, he was disappointed that the Oppenheimer star could not say it to his face.
Matt Damon Believes Jason Bourne Is Tougher Than Batman
In a 2015 interview with Daily Star Online, actor Matt Damon joked about gaining more muscle that he’s physically bigger than Batman actor Ben Affleck. At the time, he was shooting for 2016’s Jason Bourne.
Ben Affleck really bulked up for Batman, he was huge. He put on like 30lb of muscle or something but I’m doing Jason Bourne now so I think I’ve got him. I think he may have lost his Batman form, too. Anyway, Bourne is tougher than Batman without a doubt.
His claim that Bourne is more formidable than Batman is certainly a bold statement. The DC hero has a Batsuit, a Batmobile, and a Batcave full of things he needs to win a fight, but that does not mean Jason Bourne cannot stand a chance. He is an expert marksman, highly skilled in the usage of various firearms, and he shoots with deadly accuracy.
Damon has previously shared his thoughts on Affleck joining the DCEU as Batman via India Times, claiming that if fans have seen both his movies Argo and The Town, they would know they are more nuanced and more challenging than Batman.
Batman just sits there with his cowl over his head and whispers in a kinda gruff voice at people. Bruce Wayne is the more challenging part of the role, and Ben will be great at that.
Damon has roasted Affleck many couple of times in the past, and they have constantly shared opinions on each other’s movie roles so this one’s not surprising anymore.
Ben Affleck Responds To Matt Damon’s Opinion On Batman
With regards to Damon’s comments about Affleck taking up the mantle of the Dark Knight, the Justice League star responded via E! News:
Matt is going around saying this all over the place but not to my face. But Matt can’t even beat me up, never mind Batman. You know what I’m saying? He has a long way to go.
At the time, Damon was still finishing up his Jason Bourne project, and Affleck said that once he’s done with all the work stuff, he could confront him about his statement.
Both of them have worked hard to get in shape for their respective roles. The duo has claimed they used to have a friendly rivalry in their profession in Hollywood when they were younger, but not anymore now that they have become two of the biggest A-listers in the industry.
