However, everything comes with its own pros and cons, and the renowned director has revealed what exactly is the drawback of achieving such great heights, especially after becoming the president of the very studio he works in.

Hidetaka Miyazaki focuses on every single detail that goes into his game, making it one of the reasons why he is able to deliver a level of immersiveness never seen before in the gaming industry. As stated before, he has also risen the ranks over time and has become the president of FromSoftware, the studio responsible for developing the titles.

Unfortunately, the title also brings unwarranted fear from his own employees, which might end up coming in the way of developing a project the studio might be working on at the time. Exploring more on the topic, he stated the following in an interview with the New Yorker

The thing I prize is total openness from the staff; I try to be frank about my own mistakes. Because of my influence over these games, people are often reluctant to give their honest opinion, even when it may matter most. So I try not to let pride get involved, and try to create trust.

The director revealed how he tries to be as frank as possible with the development team and the colleagues he works with. This allows the respective staff to approach him with their opinions and perspectives, potentially throwing light on something that the director might have missed himself, or how an element could be better worked upon in a game.

Whose Help Did Hidetaka Miyazaki Take While Coming Up With Elden Ring

Elden Ring remains FromSoftware’s best-selling title yet, and the majority of the credit goes to the brilliant mind of Hidetaka Miyazaki himself. However, he was not alone in coming up with the storyline that captured the hearts and broke the controllers of many gamers when the game came out in 2022.

It was none other than George RR Martin, the writer of many popular book franchises, including A Song of Ice and Fire, the book on which Game of Thrones is based. Furthermore, to ensure that Martin could fully unleash his creativity, Miyazaki tasked the writer with creating the backstory for the main events we go through in the title, bringing us to today, where Elden Ring is recognized as one of the greatest video games to be ever released.

Elden Ring is available to purchase on Steam.
