During her early days in the industry, Emily Blunt was busy giving auditions left and right to find herself in a full-length feature, which she eventually did in her breakthrough role in My Summer of Love. Here, she played the role of Tamsin, an upper-class girl with attitude problems for days, something that would later become a hindrance when she would interact with people from the industry and the audience.

After she gained notoriety from her role in her breakthrough film, she would often be recognized by people from her role in the film, but that recognition also meant that people assumed her to have a similar nature as her on-screen counterpart. And even the Edge of Tomorrow star was getting fed up with this presumption everyone had about her, which is why she decided to smile a whole lot more and talk very nicely to people to clear the misunderstanding. During an interview with Britain’s Daily Express, she cleared the air about what people thought about her, saying:

“Everyone says: ‘You’re a right b****!’ But I’m honestly not, I suppose it’s the British accent and some of my work, like my first film My Summer of Love, where I played a devious girl. I try to smile and be as friendly as possible so people will go home and say: ‘You know what? That Emily Blunt isn’t nasty at all!’”

And as we know now, she is the wonderful and wholesome person that everyone knows and loves throughout the industry and the audience.
