A voice actor’s job can be pretty tough. This was proved to us by Aleks Le, the voice actor for Sung Jinwoo from Solo Leveling and Zenitsu from Demon Slayer. A few days ago, he shared a video where he revealed that the role of Sung Jinwoo put so much strain on his voice that he coughed up blood while voicing a fight scene.
Although the character of Sung Jinwoo is normally calm and logical, he sometimes gets enraged and violent while fighting strong enemies or opponents during his dungeon battles. This leads to him screaming and shouting, thus indirectly affecting the voice actor. However, that is not the case for all characters.
As mentioned before, Le also portrays the role of Zenitsu Agatsuma in Koyoharu Gotouge’s Demon Slayer. During an interview last year, the voice actor shared his experience working for one of the greatest anime series of all time and how it felt to voice a character like Zenitsu.
Aleks Le’s Had a Tough Time While Voicing Sung Jinwoo in Solo Leveling
Before the release of the final episode of Solo Leveling, voice actor Le revealed that he had been getting threats to do justice to the most epic moment in the series. He revealed that fans want him to voice the “Arise” moment perfectly, and while addressing these concerns, Le shared a TikTok video in which he said he would try his best.
The video also had a sneak peek of one of his recording sessions, where he stated:
“I literally coughed up blood. I’m not even kidding; I coughed up blood the next morning.”
Le’s journey as Sung Jinwoo in Solo Leveling has been filled with stress up until now, as the actor is not only facing the pressure of voicing one of the most popular characters in the entire Manhwa industry but also has to deal with fans who are threatening him to do his job better.
Aleks Le Shares his Experience as Zenitsu in Demon Slayer
The entire English dub voice cast of Demon Slayer was interviewed by Buzzfeed, where they were asked about their process for voicing the “emotional and expressive” scenes. While answering the question, Le stated that he has done some crazy scenes while working as Zenitsu, but they have not affected him physically in any way.
Le explained:
“Since day one of getting this job, I knew what I was in for. Even before my very first session, I had spent hours practicing and figuring out Zenitsu’s voice. This may be to a lot of people’s surprise, but no matter how crazy I go with Zenitsu’s vocal performance, I walk out of the booth pretty much unscathed. Part of that is thanks to the great communication and understanding I have with the recording team over at BangZoom.”
According to the voice actor, because he has been voicing Zenitsu in Demon Slayer for so long, his emotional expression has become second nature to him. The voice actor also revealed that it was one of the first voice acting roles of his career, and he is lucky to get such a great start as it helps him understand the field better.
