After a pretty successful run on TV screens in the series Ms Marvel, Iman Vellani made her big-screen debut with The Marvels. Even though the movie has been a failure so far, the young actress has only received positive reviews so far and is being praised for how perfectly she embodies her on-screen character.
SPOILER ALERT!
After her The Marvels team-up, Kamala Khan is now on her journey to make her own Young Avengers team, as per the end credit scene. However, Vellani recently revealed that she would rather team up with Nova And Miles Morales, as per the Champions storyline.

Just like her MCU character Kamala Khan, Iman Vellani is a massive Marvel fan. From books to comics, she really knows her stuff way better than the majority of MCU actors. Having read many of the comics, including the Young Avengers and Champions, she recently revealed while talking to New Rockstars that she would rather team up with the Champions than be a Young Avenger after The Marvels.
She stated that for her Champions seems to be a much better group than the Young Avengers, and even though it might be a major controversial take she stood by her opinion.
“Their chemistry is so much better, they feel like actual teenagers, the way that she like interacts with Sam Alexander and Miles Morales. Like it’s my favorite trio, and I want it to happen so badly.”
Much like the Young Avengers, Champions are teenage superheroes who debuted decades before Young Avengers did in 1975. Even though Ms Marvel does not seem to be part of the Young Avengers in the comic books, she is set to be the principle leader along with Kate Bishop aka Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Despite her character being the leader, Vellani feels Champions are the better group between the two teams.
Iman Vellani Thinks Champions Are Better Than Young Avengers
While conversing with Eric Voss of New Rockstars, Iman Vellani expressed her desire to be part of the Champions. Not only does she think they are a better team, but feels they are better suited and will be fun to portray thanks to the numerous young characters being introduced in the MCU.
“They do bring a whole different perspective… The Champions have been fighting like social justice issues for so long and they’re so right on so many levels. And they see things in a way adults kind of don’t. So obviously I’m for it but I think it would be a fun thing to play with because there are so many young people that are being introduced in the MCU and in the comics.”
While there have been no talks of Champions being introduced in the MCU, maybe Kamala Khan could show up in the next Spider-Man movie starring Miles Morales from a different universe. Or the Young Avengers could gradually take up the mantle of Champions for the MCU is a universe of endless opportunities and possibilities.
The Marvels is in theatres now.
