Demon Slayer has been one of the most popular anime of the modern generation. The manga earned worldwide fame, and then it was adapted into an anime. Apart from the plot and the action-packed sequences, it had a top-notch animation. Throughout all the seasons and films, the fans enjoyed the animation the most. Few anime could match the level of Ufotable.

Following the massive success of Demon Slayer anime, Ufotable became an admired animation studio. Seeing how they transformed Koyoharu Gotouge’s magnum opus into a visual treat, Studio Pierrot wanted to follow that path to achieve the same level with Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Part 3. The reason for the sudden change has been upheld by Studio Pierrot’s President, Michiyuki Honma.

Studio Pierrot has animated several notable anime, including Naruto Shippuden, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Black Clover, etc. The latest anime to be animated by Studio Pierrot is Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War arc. While the animation studio used to release the episodes weekly, since Bleach, it has stopped the weekly releases and focused on season-based anime. The massive reason for this change was Ufotable’s achievement with Demon Slayer.

Creating season-based anime will give the animation studio proper time to design the animations and bring out the best of the characters. Due to the time constraint, the budget will increase, and they can focus on quality instead of quantity. Combining all these factors gave Demon Slayer a massive boost in its sales and attracted audiences from all age groups. Not only Ufotable but most of the modern generation anime studios shifted to this pattern for better outcomes.

Studio Pierrot has worked with one of the Big Three of anime and is currently working with another. The early 2000s was a different time compared to the current generation. Instead of weekly releases, fans prefer seasonal releases to increase the anime’s hype. Thus, the sale also increases the number of animation studios. Animation giant Studio Pierrot is following in Ufotable’s footsteps.

Demon Slayer Has an Admirer From a Rival Animation Studio

Studio Pierrot President Michiyuki Honma openly praised Demon Slayer and its animation. During an interview, he said,

“I think it’s definitely great to make one long-running work like Pierrot has done in the past. At the same time, the large budget and running costs entail a big risk. But can we compete with works made in this new way using the same production methods as before? It would probably damage the brand. We don’t want to lose. Both Pierrot and I want to be number one. With that in mind, when we made Bleach: The Thousand-Year Blood War, the entire company took on the task of making a new anime.”

Long-running anime often takes more time than intended and pressurizes the animation studio. Studio Pierrot had to improvise while creating Naruto by putting in fillers to make up for the weekly schedule. It became difficult for them to work so rigorously. But they want to avoid those mistakes and try a new adventure with Bleach.

The Thousand-Year Blood War arc has been separated into several parts, with the first and second parts already been released. Part three is yet to be released. It will follow the same pattern of season-based episodes. Fans have praised Bleach’s animation due to its massive quality improvement. With Demon Slayer setting a new trend, more might soon follow.
