There’s a career-changing superhero role that Adam Brody had missed. The role could have given heights to his career, but eventually, it went to Chris Pratt.
Adam Brody is an actor known for his fun and sarcastic acting style. Brody rose to fame for his role as Seth Cohen in the teen drama series The O.C. (2003 to 2007).
He gained world recognition with his role as Freddy Freemason, aka Captain Everypower (one of the Shazam Family members in DC comics). After making waves in DC the actor was also ready to be featured in the MCU. Unfortunately, it never came to be.
Adam Brody Laments After Losing Star-Lord Role
In a conversation with the Just for Variety podcast, Adam Brody revealed that he was almost cast as Peter Quill/Star-Lord in Guardians of The Galaxy. He read for the role, but Chris Pratt ended up getting it. “I wanted that one,” the actor said while admitting that Pratt was a “better” fit for the space adventurer.
Not only Brody but stars including Eddie Redmayne, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Zach Levi were also reportedly considered for the role. Though Shazam! actor didn’t get to feature as Star-Lord, he worked with the actor who played the character.
Yes right. Brody and Pratt have a history of working together on the same show. Both actors Co-starred in the 2000s teen drama The O.C. Pratt joined as Ché Cook in the fourth and final seasons, whereas Brody was in one of the lead roles throughout the show.
But the point here to note is this isn’t the first role for which the actor tried and didn’t get in. There are a few more roles for which Brody gave a go but failed.
Another Role That Adam Brody Missed On
The other unsuccessful auditions for which the River Wild star tried include the 2003 romantic comedy crime film Gigli starring Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck.
He reflected on having auditioned for the role that was detached by Justin Bartha. Brody said, “I remember liking the script.”
The 43-year-old continued:
“I remember in the end, [Affleck] died in a way that it still stays with me. It’s like he’s sitting on the beach, he’s bleeding out and the sand just comes up and buries him… It was a nice image that they did not use in the movie at all.”
Despite this, the actor has acted in various unique films like Scream 4, The Kid Detective, and many more.
