Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness have shared a beautiful married life for over 26 years. Their successful marriage is proof that the age gap between two partners doesn’t really matter. It came as a total surprise to Jackman who certainly didn’t expect her to reciprocate when he confessed about his crush.
How Hugh Jackman Confessed His Love
Back in 1995, The Wolverine actor first met his future wife on the sets of the Australian television series, Corelli. And just two weeks after meeting her, Jackman knew that he wanted to spend his life with her. But falling in love with the lead of a TV show created a bit of doubt in his mind. So, he didn’t talk to his co-star for 5 days. And then suddenly, he hosted a dinner and invited 20 people including her.
Here’s what Hugh Jackman explained to People about the whole situation:
“I invited 20 people [over for dinner]. She came over, and I said, ‘Deb, give me a hand with the dessert.’ I said, ‘[I’ve] got a crush on you. I’ll get over it; I’m sorry.’ She goes, ‘Oh? Because I’ve got a crush on you too.’ I never in a million years thought she reciprocated.”
Now that’s just brilliant. You’ve got to agree that it’s the best feeling in the world when your crush also has a crush on you! From that point onwards, Jackman and Furness have been the “Happily ever after.”
The Most Important Relationship Advice
The X-Men star got married to his 13 years older partner on April 11, 1996. And since then, we’ve all heard them talking about their love for each other time and time again. But back in 2019, Jackman gave the most important relationship advice. He explained that it is important for partners to just be real, and be honest with each other.

Here’s what Jackman said while speaking with Good Morning America:
“I think relationships, you gotta be yourself, even the bits you don’t love, the bits you’re embarrassed about or things you did wrong. If you’re in a situation where you can be yourself and really be honest, that’s a good start.”
Now that’s pretty sage advice, isn’t it?! The actor is a total keeper. He has often praised his wife and claimed how lucky he was to have met her before finding major success in his acting career.
One could say that Jackman and Furness are arguably the most successful couple in the industry!
