Walton Goggins has been a part of some interesting films and TV projects over the years. While he might not be an A-list superstar, his range and versatility as an actor cannot be underestimated. His Emmy-nominated performance as Boyd Crowder in Justified was one of many roles where he shined as an actor.
In films, he famously starred in Tarantino’s dual Western films Django Unchained and The Hateful Eight. He is gearing up for his next big role as the Ghoul in the upcoming Fallout series for Amazon. It seems Goggins was blown away by last year’s The Last of Us series and talked to Pedro Pascal about his experience on making the show.
Walton Goggins Didn’t Ask for Advice from Pedro Pascal Despite Loving The Last of Us
Video game adaptations have been making a resurgence over the past few years and 2023 saw its peak form. The huge successes of both The Last of Us and The Super Mario Bros. Movie have proved that with a great story and conviction, game adaptations can work wonders. Amazon is now trying its hand at this with its upcoming Fallout series.
Walton Goggins recently sat down with The Guardian to promote the show. During the conversation, Pedro Pascal‘s The Last of Us came up and when asked if he took any advice from him, Goggins claimed that he did not discuss anything about his show when they were shooting for their new film, The Uninvited.
Goggins expressed his love for Pascal’s show and stated that he was blown away by Pascal’s performance. Instead of talking about his show or discussing video game adaptations, Goggins instead talked to Pascal about the making of The Last of Us. He said,
“I didn’t. He’s a good friend of mine, but I didn’t talk to him about my experience. I talked to him about his experience, because I was blown away by what he did. And obviously we were talking when he was in Canada, hearing what a great time he had, but I didn’t say: ‘So what does it mean to make a successful game adaptation?’ I wouldn’t ever speak for Pedro, but I can’t imagine he woke up every morning with that pressure either.”
Goggins is a terrific actor and he does not need any advice from Pascal to do a great job. However, he is happy with the success of The Last of Us as it changed people’s perceptions on video game adaptations and more people will be looking forward to his series now to continue the successful streak.
Walton Goggins is Extremely Grateful for Having a Nose After Playing the Ghoul
Walton Goggins is starring alongside Ella Purnell as the Ghoul in Amazon’s Fallout series. The character is a survivor, previously known by the name Cooper Howard, who has lived for centuries since a nuclear apocalypse and has undergone drastic physical transformation eventually becoming the Ghoul.
In an interview with Den of Geek, Goggins talked about the look of his character in the series. He joked that he is now incredibly grateful for having a nose in real life after seeing his unrecognizable transformation as the Ghoul from the trailer of the series. He said,
“I’ve gotta be honest with you. The one thing I’m more grateful for than anything in my life right now is my nose, I give it so much love, I look at it every day, especially after that trailer that was released. Thank God I have a nose.”
Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner are the showrunners of Fallout, and Westworld creators Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan are executive producers on the show. The series also stars Kyle MacLachlan, Mike Doyle, Moisés Arias, and Johnny Pemberton among others. Fallout will be released on Amazon Prime on April 11, 2024.
