Walton Goggins considered quitting Fallout while he was in production rolling with the action. Appearing for a chat with IMDb, the actor revealed details of one of the most visually engaging characters in a television series. “We had many discussions early on about you know what this is going to be what this is going to look like,” Goggins said of his character.

“And the thing that we kind of kept coming back to and Jonah [Jonathan Nolan] really pointed this out is we wanted the audience to lean into this experience visually. Once you get over the shock of seeing it right to start studying it and like oh wow what does the Nick in that ear like what does that mean? And what does this line where did that kind of come from and it took us about 5 hours, uh, to do it the first time. And I was having a panic attack the entire time thinking oh my God there’s no way I could do this I have to get out of this job I can’t I can’t sit here for 5 hours.”

But quitting was not entirely on the card, and the actor got back to the essence of the character. “Once we got it on and I really just kept looking at myself, uh, in my phone,” he told IMDb. And “I felt the burden and the weight and the pain that he’d been carrying around uh for the last 200 years.” Goggins’ character in the show has a mesmerizing effect on fans, the live-action transformation of the character has brought back the essence of the game as well.

Goggins was not entirely in his character the whole time on set. The actor was often distracted by external forces. Recalling a never-before-revealed story from the set exclusively involving him, the actor revealed that he once screamed in intense scare. “I’ll tell you a story that I haven’t told anyone else,” Goggins shared.

“The day that we did the very first, I put on my pants before I made a cup of coffee and I started screaming something was biting me. And I didn’t really know what it was, true story… I took my pants off and I started you know I was like ‘what? Oh my God, oh my God.’ I looked down and on my thigh was a spider about this big it was really really hurting. I went out to breakfast with some friends of mine, I asked my buddy to come into the bathroom, I’m sorry this is a very long story, but it it’s amazing. The story is amazing. So, I said I brought him into the bathroom and I said hey man can you look at this? And he said what are you doing here you need to go to the emergency room right now. I went to the emergency room called these guys, I said, ‘I’m going to be about an hour late you know turns out I got bit by a brown recluse, yeah, five times.”

A bummer for everyone in the production, but the actor said that it was not a medical excuse. He was scared to the bone. For context, recluse spiders are venomous and commonly found in warmer arrears. Where the show was being filmed was kind of a hotspot for the spider.
