Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has been released for over a month and fan opinions are split in the middle, while the graphics make it look like a next-gen triple-A game, the story and repetitive gameplay, however, were a major downgrade from the previous Batman Arkham series also made by the same developer, Rocksteady Studios.

While the premise was quite promising having to control anti-heroes and fight against major characters like Batman and Superman, the optional co-op provided by the live-service aspect, bugs, and other issues held it back.

Suicide Squad Is Full of Plot Holes And Bullet Holes

The way the Suicide Squad handled the League was confusing and ridiculous.

A new installment to the Arkham series was announced in August 2020. Five years after Batman: Arkham Knight, and features the League meeting its demise. Some portrayals and characterizations of the Justice League may upset fans, and the creative decisions surrounding their deaths have left DC fans questioning the sense of it all.

It is no secret that everyone and their grandmother knows that Green Kryptonite is the weakness of Kryptonians, and the Justice League’s Superman, perhaps their most powerful and deadly asset, is a Kryptonian. At one point in the game, Wonder Woman, who was the only member that was not under Brainiac’s control used a pure kryptonite shard and plunged it into his chest which should have killed him.

In the movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Superman dies after being stabbed in the chest by Doomsday. This happens right after he strikes the reanimated villain with a kryptonite spear, which has already weakened him. However, in the game, Superman is stabbed in the heart, yet he survives, albeit injured. This doesn’t make sense since the shard should have killed him instantly. Later, in another instance, the Squad successfully neutralizes Superman by using gold kryptonite bullets.

The reasoning can be described as lazy, Lex-2 theorized that Brainiac’s influence may have altered or enhanced the Justice League. Perhaps gameplay was factored into this decision as the creators wanted an epic boss fight with one of the world’s greatest heroes and beat him with repetitive gameplay, or it could be just lazy writing.

The World’s Greatest Heroes Dies By The Hands Of The Suicide Squad

The most controversial moment in the game is probably the way Batman uncharacteristically dies and how his character was butchered from the Arkham games.
The death of Batman and the character’s portrayal since the Arkham games has been a controversial topic among fans.

The game was already nearly finished by the time new leadership took over, James Gunn is now the CEO of DC Studios and even directed The Suicide Squad which was a success unlike this adaptation, and several other superhero projects. This game and the failure of the DCEU further prove that Warner Bros. had no clue how to use its strongest asset.

Suicide Squad: Kills the Justice League promised post-launch content and additional characters with its multiversal concept. However, killing Batman unceremoniously has eroded fans’ trust, an uncommon issue with most DC projects. Have you played the game? Let us know your thoughts below!
