Berry played the DC character in the 2004 solo movie of the same name. The movie, however, appears among one of the lowest-rated superhero movies of all time, scoring only 8% on Rotten Tomatoes. But the movie did teach her one thing- to reverse her hatred towards men.

The Real Reason Why Halle Berry Hated Men

Halle Berry has the charm that attracts a lot of men. She has retained her beautiful appearance even at the age of 57 with careful diet and exercise after she was diagnosed with Type-1 diabetes at the age of 19. But she believed that “just because they see my face doesn’t mean they see me. A person’s self-esteem has nothing to do with how she looks,” as told by her to the NY Times.

Berry had a shattered past with the men in her life. Her past relationships almost broke the actor. The Oscar winner had to endure domestic violence, break-ups, and a creepy stalker. In 2004, Berry even vowed on Oprah’s couch that she would “never marry again — never.” The actor revealed that she had suicidal thoughts. Is it bad luck that she has made these bad choices in men?

“My picker’s broken. God just wanted to mix up my life. Maybe he was thinking, ‘This girl can’t get everything! I’m going to give her a broken picker,” she told the outlet.

Being mixed up with these disastrous relationships got the best of the actor. She saw the worst in the men in her life, and could only develop hatred out of it.

Halle Berry’s Perception of Men Changed After Catwoman

Pitof’s Catwoman was a disaster, both critically and at the box office. The movie is considered one of the worst superhero movies of all time. But Halle Berry, 57, has very little regret, as the movie was more than just the rating score and box office numbers for her.

At the time of Catwoman, Berry was going through a pretty hard time following her breakup with R&B singer Eric Benet due to his infidelities. “I so needed to be Catwoman at that moment,” she told the New York Post.

“I needed to take control of my life and to make some tough life decisions for myself. Putting on that suit made it a whole lot easier,” she added. Her Catwoman co-star Benjamin Bratt, who played Tom Lone in the movie, changed her perception of men. The Cloud Atlas actor told The Washington Post,

“I worked really, really hard on Catwoman. I got in the best shape of my life. I proved a lot of things to myself. I met Benjamin Bratt, who was an amazing man, and that was when I was in my ‘I hate men’ mode.”

She said that the Poker Face actor “single-handedly restored my faith, and I thought, oh, I will date again someday. I was ready to ban men for life,” she added. But those days are gone, Berry is currently dating singer/songwriter Van Hunt.
