Aubrey Plaza is known for her in-your-face comic hijinks. The 2010s really helped boost her career as a comedian and actress, helping her gain recognition and fame on an unprecedented scale for her. Parks and Recreation (2008-2015), which had contributors from mega-popular TV series and sitcom The Office (2005-2013) – Michael Schur co-created Parks and Recreation, and worked closely with Plaza, who played the role of April Ludgate.
Aubrey Plaza had an ‘altercation’ with Joe Biden in her early years
Plaza has had her fair share of stories in the industry, but her run-ins with now-US President Joe Biden remain among one of the most colorful. According to reports which surfaced recently, Aubrey Plaza had attended a youth leadership conference at her high school several years ago, where participants could voice their opinions about various issues. The conference had a speaker in Biden, who was all set to deliver a speech to the audience.
The speech he delivered was not to Plaza’s liking, however.
“I was really angry about the conference — and, in fact, I had a stare-down with Joe Biden from the audience, because he asked how it went, and I raised my hand immediately, and I was, like, ‘It’s bullshit. This conference sucks. You didn’t let us talk. This was supposed to be about the students,’ ” Plaza said. “…And he did not like it [her speaking out to him]. I remember his face got really red. He used to get really fiery when he would make speeches. It was crazy.“
Plaza had evidently felt that the youth themselves had been sidelined at the youth leadership conference, thanks to Biden’s speech. Her voicing those emotions obviously made for interesting commentary.

The actress swiped a note containing her name from the White House
Even more amusing news surfaced regarding Plaza’s beef with the now President. As a part of the cast of Parks and Recreation, when Plaza was on a tour of the White House for filming an episode there, she spotted a note with her name on it. She said that the note was on Biden’s desk, and had her name, that they had met earlier at the conference, and her place of birth – Wilmington, Delaware.
Plaza evidently swiped the note from the White House. Schur was horrified when he found out, but Plaza was steadfast in her justification behind the act.
“And I was, like, ‘I knew it! He doesn’t remember me at all!’ But that’s how politicians are, you know? I pocketed it, and Mike Schur, the creator of ‘Parks and Rec,’ was horrified,” Plaza said. “He was, like, ‘You cannot steal from the White House!’ And I was, like, ‘I don’t give a shit! I know what he did! He didn’t know me!’”
Joe Biden’s witty remark for Aubrey Plaza
Biden also hails from Delaware, where Plaza was born. The duo’s colorful history was effectively capped off when on a Saturday Night Live monologue Plaza proudly announced her win in an online poll as the most popular person from Delaware. She also indicated that the President was not impressed with the results of the poll.
However, Biden had a chirpy quip ready for the actress.
“Aubrey, you’re the most famous person out of Delaware and there’s no question about that. We’re just grateful you made it out of ‘White Lotus’ alive,” Biden told Plaza.
The White Lotus (2021) is an American comedy-drama anthology TV series in which Plaza starred recently. The show depicted disruptions in the daily life of several people at a popular resort due to psychological dysfunctions, which is why the president made the last comment regarding the series about Plaza.
