While opening about playing the character and shaving her head like Mad Max: Fury Road star Charlize Theron, Anya Taylor-Joy said that she was very much excited to go bald.

Speaking with Empire Magazine, the Golden Globe winner said: 

I felt so fiercely protective over Furiosa, and fiercely protective of her interests,” Taylor-Joy said.

I was so excited to shave my head. Then George saw me in real life, and went, ‘No, we can’t!’”

Mad Max: Fury Road prequel’s costume designer Jenny Beavan told Variety about how badly Taylor-Joy wanted to shave her head. 

She wants to, but [director George Miller] doesn’t want her to,” said Beavan. “So I don’t know whether she will or not.

The Northman actress, while talking about playing the role, shared that she fell in love with Furiosa, and the way that Theron portrayed her. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga centers on Charlize Theron’s character as a younger woman. It is once again George Miller, who is helming the film, just as he did with Mad Max: Fury Road and the original series of films as well.

There’s a charisma to him and it’s a very manipulative charisma.” 

Tom Hardy’s Mad Max would make an appearance in Furiosa as it is only set fifteen years prior to Mad Max: Fury Road.

Furiosa is slated to release on May 24, 2024.
