The character is absolutely one of the trickiest roles to cast in the Dune franchise. Alia Atreides was born during the second half of the book, shares the same abilities as her brother, and becomes a major character in the second half of Dune. Interestingly, Alia is also an infant.

If the scooper’s information proves to be true, then Denis Villeneuve definitely did age up the character which is yet to be confirmed once the movie hits the theaters. For a long time, Taylor-Joy has been speculated to appear in the sequel of Dune alongside Florence Pugh.

It’s also a mystery why the role is kept hidden when Alia Atreides plays a major character in the story. Perhaps fans can count on it as something to look forward to. Meanwhile, Villeneuve teased during the CinemaCon 2023 in Las Vegas via THR what the audience can expect from the sequel.

Part One is more of a contemplative movie. Part Two is an action-packed, epic, war movie. It is much more dense. We went to all-new locations. I didn’t want a feeling of repetition. It’s all new sets. Everything is new. This time, it’s full IMAX.”

Apart from the fact that fans can anticipate Anya Taylor-Joy’s appearance in the film, there’s also more adventure and revelations for the House Atreides. The director confirmed via Deadline:

It’s going to be another beautiful journey in the desert again. It’s the journey where Paul Atreides and his mother, Lady Jessica, make contact with the Fremen culture and meet with the Fremen. It’s Paul’s journey against the enemy. It’s a movie that will be more cinematic.”

The cast of Dune: Part Two will also include Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Christopher Walken, and Léa Seydoux.
