Actor-comedian Steve Carell is set to lead a new untitled HBO single-camera comedy show, which received a straight-to-series order for 10 episodes amid a competitive bidding war among multiple platforms.

In addition to starring in the series, Carell is also producing the comedy show with Lawrence and Tarses. The show is set on a college campus and follows an author’s complicated relationship with his daughter.

Bill Lawrence, the co-creator of the Emmy-winning series Ted Lasso, is reported to be working on the first episode of the show with Matt Tarses. The duo has previously collaborated on the medical sitcom Scrubs and is currently working on an Apple series Bad Monkey.

Lawrence has shared that he is delighted by the opportunity to work with Foxcatcher star, saying, “HBO has long been a standard bearer of quality TV. Getting to do a show there with Steve Carell is an immediate career highlight for Matt and me.”

He further stated, “Nothing can go wrong now,” as per The Hollywood Reporter. Amy Gravitt, executive vice president of HBO and Max comedy programming, also shared her enthusiasm, saying,
