George Clooney described himself as ‘un-full’ before he met his wife Amal Clooney and that feeling only intensified when the couple welcomed their twins. So, in 2018, in Sardinia, Italy, when the star was involved in a terrible motorcycle incident he was extremely terrified. In an interview with GQ, the star stated,

“He literally turned directly in front of me, I launched. I go head over heels. But I landed on my hands and knees. If you did it 100 times, maybe once you land on your hands and knees, and any other version you land, you’re toast. It knocked me out of my shoes. When I hit the ground my mouth—I thought all my teeth were broken out. But it was glass from the windshield.”

He had crashed the car’s windshield with his head, injured his neck, and his helmet was completely split in half. Thinking that this was it, he waited only to have just one thought in his mind,

“Although my kids were like a year old, and mostly it was just the thought that this was it and that I wasn’t gonna see them again.”

The star stated as he revealed that he has since long been banned by his wife from his favorite activity. Describing himself as a very positive person, there is one other thing that stands out from that day.

George Clooney wasn’t alone on the day of the tragic accident but was riding with Grant Heslov, his longtime friend. When he fell, Heslov was there holding him, screaming at everyone to call an ambulance. Apart from the thought of his kids and thinking he was going to die, he recalls there is one thing that he might always remember. In the interview with GQ, he stated,

“I was on the ground. I was really screaming. Like, really screaming. And Grant came back, and he was screaming at everybody to get an ambulance, and I remember everybody got out of their cars, they stopped in the middle of the street, and all these people came and stood over me and just pulled out their phones and started taking video.”

He paused for a while, then added,

It’s a funny thing. I’m not a cynical guy, and I really tend to look at life and try to find the good in everything. But I’ll never forget the moment that what I thought might be my last few moments was for everyone else a piece of entertainment.”

But what most stands out from this memory is the people taking pictures of him while exclaiming ‘A- George Clooney!’ While it might seem funny now, his experience serves as a cruel reminder of how hollow ‘humanity’ has become.
