Known for her remarkable career, Gwyneth Paltrow has had illustrious on-screen pairings, one of the most popular being with Robert Downey Jr. Fans loved the chemistry between their characters, Tony Stark and Pepper Potts. However, hardcore RDJ fans might not relate to his Marvel co-star’s one comment.
Paltrow has worked with Downey Jr. in several Marvel films. However, The Avengers star, known for his quick wit and unparalleled charm, didn’t win the crown for being the funniest in Paltrow’s on-screen collaboration. The actress shared Johnny Depp is the funniest person she has ever worked with during an appearance on The Ellen Show.
The Funniest Actor Gwyneth Paltrow Has Worked With
Robert Downey Jr. is known for his remarkable versatility in the world of cinema. Having portrayed a range of characters throughout his career, the actor is loved for his ability to infuse humor into his performances. However, despite all that, he has surprisingly failed to be the funniest co-star of Gwyneth Paltrow.
The Iron Man actress joined Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show with her Mortdecai co-star Johnny Depp. As she shared her experience working with the Oscar-nominated actor, she said that he is the funniest person she has ever worked with.
“He’s the funniest person I’ve ever worked with. I wet myself and like pitted out laughing,” Paltrow said on The Ellen Show. The actress also shared that she couldn’t help but laugh while filming the movie and ruined almost 15 takes. “I basically ruined – the – I mean, I ruined like 15 takes,” she told the talk show host.
Based on the first of Kyril Bonfiglioli’s cult novels, Don’t Point That Thing at Me, Mortdecai follows a financially struggling couple who take up a job to find a stolen Goya painting, only to learn that they are not the only ones looking for that painting.
Gwyneth Paltrow Recalled Meeting Johnny Depp
During her appearance on The Ellen Show, Gwyneth Paltrow also talked about the first time she met her Mortdecai co-star. She recalled meeting him during an after-show event in London, and how he made her realize that she was not the coolest person in the room.
“And, I went in, and, you know, I thought I was like sort of cool until I met him. Then, he was like so cool, rolling cigarettes and stuff. And I was like, ‘Wow, I’m a total nerdy mom.”
The actress shared that they didn’t really know each other before working on the 2015 action comedy. The movie, however, failed at the box office and was heavily panned by critics as well. But it has received mixed reactions from the audience, with some even claiming that it could even become a cult classic.
Mortdecai is available on Prime Video.
