Recently, the actress participated in Vogue’s popular YouTube series 73 Questions, and when the interviewer Joe Sabia remarked on seeing her Oscar trophy lying on her lawn, “What a beautiful Academy Award,” Paltrow responded to it in no time and said, “My doorstop! It works perfectly.”

After facing severe backlash on social media, Gwyneth Paltrow addressed the issue and clarified her statement through her representative. During an interview with Variety, Paltrow’s representative said that she said so as a joke. 

During an interview in 2005, the actress said,

“I keep it tucked away at the back of the bookshelf in my bedroom because it weirds me out. For weeks after I won I kept it in storage… I won’t even put it on the mantlepiece, the thing freaks me out.

For some reason, I haven’t been able to feel really good about it. I just feel sort of embarrassed and it brings up weird, traumatic feelings. It’s associated with a tough time in my life.”

Earlier during an appearance on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast, the actress shared that her Oscar trophy reminds her of a hard phase of her life. She said that her winning moment was soured as at that time her father was seriously ill.
