Gwyneth Paltrow Responds To A Fan About Her Possible Return In The MCU

Fans who have watched Gwyneth Paltrow’s Instagram stories would have been amused after seeing her reply to the question: “I’m asking this every time answer the question why did you stop with Marvel and do you miss [Robert Downey Jr.]?” The actress answered (via Twitter):

Oh my god, stop yelling at me! We just stopped doing it because Iron Man died. And, why do you need Pepper Potts without Iron Man? I don’t know. Call up Marvel and yell at them, not me. I’m just sitting here.”

It seems Paltrow felt the full energy of the fan who sent the question. Indeed, what would fans need Pepper Potts for now that Iron Man is no longer in the movies? The character has always existed in the company of Tony Stark, at least in the MCU.

Apart from the three Iron Man movies, Paltrow also appeared in The Avengers, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. While her character survived the events in Endgame, the actress felt it was unnecessary to bring it back into the fold. Still, she was grateful for the opportunity (via Variety):

I mean, I’m a bit old to be in a suit and all that at this point. I feel very lucky that I did it because I actually got talked into it. I was friends with [Iron Man director] Jon Favreau. It was such a wonderful experience making the first Iron Man and then to watch how important it has become to fans.”

In a recent Goop podcast, she revealed she’s done with superhero movies, though Paltrow does not entirely close her door to the possibility of returning. The Shakespeare in Love star said:

I mean, I didn’t die, so they can always ask me.”

Paltrow’s statement would definitely ignite fans’ hopes of her potential return to the MCU in case the need arises.

In another interview with People, Gwyneth Paltrow shared that she is willing to rejoin the MCU if it fits in her hectic schedule. As a mother and a businesswoman, it would be difficult to juggle several jobs in a day. So, the actress suggested:

I think if it was a small part that I could do in like, a day or two, I would, of course, be open to that.”

A cameo appearance would do for Paltrow, who currently runs her own company of beauty and wellness products. She also explained why she shifted from acting to business:

I wouldn’t say I’m that passionate about it anymore… I have had a lot of good luck and a lot of hard work, which led to a really good film career… at a certain point I felt like it wasn’t what I wanted to do… so I did a little pivot.”

It would take a lot of brainstorming to bring back Pepper Potts into the multiverse, but right now, Paltrow enjoys her time away from the spotlight as she focuses on her own brand.
