Why Did Seth Rogen Apologize To Emma Watson

Rogen apologized after Emma Watson mentioned in a 2021 interview with British Vogue that the experience was “really tough” for her. Watson was rumored to have “stormed off the set” after refusing to film a scene involving Channing Tatum appearing as a gimp on a leash.

However, in an interview with GQ magazine, Seth Rogen addressed the rumor, clarifying that Watson did not “storm off the set.” Despite his comments, Rogen felt the need to set the record straight and further emphasized on social media that Watson never left the set in a huff.

Besides, director Evan Goldberg also tried reuniting Emma Watson with her Harry Potter co-star Daniel Redcliff. Goldberg revealed that they had approached Daniel Radcliffe during the film’s first draft. However, the plan did not come to fruition as the actor thought “it was shitty” and “wasn’t good enough.”

Was There Any Hostility Between The Actors?

During the interview, Seth Rogen seemingly confirmed rumors that Emma Watson had left the set during the making of This Is the End. However, in a follow-up social media post, Rogen clarified that there was never any hostility between him and Watson and that the incident was not a “terrible ending” to their relationship. Rogen expressed his satisfaction with how the film turned out and praised Watson’s professionalism in promoting the film.

“I mean, I don’t look back on that and think, ‘How dare she do that?’ You know?” Rogen said. “I think sometimes when you read something, when it comes to life it doesn’t seem to be what you thought it was. But it was not some terrible ending to our relationship. She came back the next day to say goodbye. She helped promote the film. No hard feelings and I couldn’t be happier with how the film turned out in the end.”

Rogen also noted that Watson’s concern about the scene was justified as it was changed from its original plan. The actor, who also co-wrote and co-directed the film with Evan Goldberg, acknowledged Watson’s right to question the direction of the scene. Despite the rumors and controversy surrounding the scene, This Is the End was a commercial success, grossing $126 million worldwide.
