Jennifer Lawrence might not be nominated for the 2024 Oscars, but it couldn’t stop the actress from being dressed to the nines. She opted for attire from Dior — a brand she’s been associated with for a long time.
She walked the red carpet wearing another stunning couture gown from the French fashion house. This time, it was a strapless black gown adorned with white polka dots all over.
Although the dress may have seemed simple, it actually required a lot of preparation time. Despite its uncomplicated appearance, designing and creating it took a significant effort, totaling 1500 hours.
Jennifer Lawrence’s Oscars Dior Dress Required 1500 Hours to Get Completed
The stylish actress chose a custom piece from Dior’s spring 2024 haute couture collection for the 96th Academy Awards, where she served as a presenter.
Her pick was the closing dress, a strapless black dress with white polka dots. The gown was complemented by a matching stole. The Hunger Games actress told Vogue:
“When I first saw the dress on the runway, I fell in love. Polka dots are classic and chic.”
She only wore a diamond tennis necklace and bracelet as accessories. Although it appears simple and clean, Jennifer Lawrence’s dress is the result of meticulous work by the atelier members.

The dress is crafted from artisanal silk moiré — a technique that involves pressing wet layers of fabric together under heat to create a rippling effect. The entire process to make the gown required a considerable 1,500 hours of labor.
Jennifer Lawrence’s Strapless Dior Gown at the 2013 Oscars is By Far the Most Famous
Jennifer Lawrence is no stranger to the Oscars. She won Best Actress for Silver Linings Playbook and received nods for Winter’s Bone, Joy, and American Hustle.
Not only is she known for attending the Oscars, but she’s also familiar with wearing iconic attire to the event. One of J.Law’s most memorable looks was the fabulous strapless ballgown she wore to receive her Best Actress award at the 2013 ceremony.
The cream gown featured a gorgeous voluminous skirt, but unfortunately, it also led to her falling on the stairs while she was going to accept her award.
The dress was designed by Raf Simons for Christian Dior Haute Couture and was one of the final looks of his collection that season. Rumor (via Marie Claire) has it that the dress is worth $4 million.
