Timothée Chalamet admits that he has been avoiding superhero movies for a long time for one specific reason. And that reason is Hollywood’s one of the most bankable stars, Leonardo DiCaprio. According to the young actor, DiCaprio had advised him against starring in the superhero movie genre.
However, only recently, Timothée Chalamet revealed how a superhero movie was the first thing that inspired him to be an actor. Driven by Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight, Chalamet decided that he would choose acting as his profession. Therefore, despite veteran actor Leonardo DiCaprio’s advice, the Dune star admitted that he would consider starring in superhero flicks, but under one condition.
Timothée Chalamet Was Guided by Leonardo DiCaprio’s Golden Rule
Hollywood veteran Leonardo DiCaprio isn’t a fan of superhero movies. Throughout his decades-long career, although the actor was sought by many renowned studios producing superhero flicks, DiCaprio never appeared in any. And now, the acclaimed actor has convinced rising star Timothee Chalamet to follow in his footsteps.
Passing his wisdom to Timothée Chalamet, which the actor has eagerly accepted as his career, Leonardo DiCaprio succeeded in offering proper guidance to the rising star. Appearing for a 2022 interview with Vogue, Chalamet revealed the exact word of wisdom that came from DiCaprio.
“No hard drugs and no superhero movies.”
Considering it as a golden rule in his career, Timothée Chalamet has been proceeding with Leonardo DiCaprio’s advice all this while. Despite starring in several critically acclaimed movies, Chalamet has never appeared in any superhero flicks, as of now. But now, in spite of not appearing in hardcore superhero films, the actor did play a superhero-like role and become a genre icon with Dune.
Timothée Chalamet Will Star in Superhero Films Under 1 Condition
Following his appearance in Denis Villeneuve‘s Dune and the sequel, Timothée Chalamet seems to have got a taste of what it’s like to star in superhero films and be the leading icon. Despite previously following Leonardo DiCaprio’s golden rule, Chalamet now appears ready to break free and experience things for himself.
During a recent interview with the New York Times, Timothée Chalamet noted that despite following Leonardo DiCaprio’s advice all this while, he hasn’t forgotten what drove him to be an actor. Discussing how he was inspired by a popular superhero movie to be an actor, Chalamet hailed Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight.
Revealing how Christopher Nolan‘s DC flick was the very film that made him want to become an actor, Timothée Chalamet noted that he would thus consider doing a superhero film, but under one condition. Placing his negotiations on the table of having a stellar screenplay and an acclaimed director, Chalamet admitted being ready to break Leonardo DiCaprio’s golden rule.
“Well, Leonardo DiCaprio said to me, ‘No superhero movies, no hard drugs.’ Which I thought was very good. I follow them both! But the movie that made me want to act is a superhero movie, The Dark Knight. If the script was great, if the director was great, I’d have to consider it.”
Playing a superhero-like character in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune movies might have changed Timothée Chalamet’s opinion, alongside the fact that The Dark Knight was his driving force.
