“Larry, you’ve gone too far this time!”, Shrieked Savannah Guthrie and the whole internet after Larry David left everyone in horror after bursting out on Elmo at the Today show. While David was there to promote the final season of Curb Your Enthusiasm, his appearance on the Today Show went south after being unable to hold himself after Elmo wouldn’t stop talking.
And it didn’t take the Seinfeld star long to provide an explanation for lashing out at the innocent wisecracker, as he stressed he wouldn’t shy away from doing it again.
Larry David Shares No Regret for Lashing Out on Elmo
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Elmo asked his followers about how everyone was holding up, which was reasonably met with loads of netizens expressing their strife in life to the furry red monster. This led to the innocent Elmo addressing mental health during his appearance on the Today Show. But Larry David, who was there to promote his upcoming show, was less than thrilled about Elmo going on for that long, and eventually, the frustration got the better of him. After his aggressive confrontation, the actor shared no remorse, stressing that he’d do it again.
Impersonating Elmo’s high-pitched voice, David told Seth Meyers:
“Elmo was talking. I was waiting to be interviewed, and Elmo was going on about mental health and I had to listen to every word. And I was going, ‘Oh my God, oh my God, I don’t think I can take another second of this!’ And so I got off my chair and I approached him and I throttled him! I couldn’t take it!”
This shocking display of violence on the acclaimed actor’s part reasonably shocked everyone, including Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, and Craig Melvin, who urged him to apologize to Elmo.
Elmo Doesn’t Hold It Against Larry David
Despite breaking his cool on the Today Show, which led to the Muppet saying, “Mr. Larry, Elmo liked you before,” Larry David did apologize for his actions after being urged by Guthrie and Kotb. And while it wasn’t the most sincere apology, as David immediately laughed after saying, “Elmo, I just want to apologize,” it was enough to melt the innocent Muppet’s heart. Responding to David’s apology, Elmo thanked David as he expressed that he forgives the Seinfeld Star, stating, “Elmo accepts your apology.”
But fans will believe the beloved muppet was a little too soft on Larry David, as not long after the incident, David stressed that he would do it again while speaking to Seth Meyers.
