Jo Koy’s Ex Seemingly Poked Fun at His Hosting Gig
Actress and comedian, Chelsea Handler, seemingly took a playful jab at her ex-boyfriend Jo Koy while hosting the 2024 Critics Choice Awards. Koy made several remarks about stars like Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese at the Golden Globes, and Handler kicked off her monologue by addressing them. She said,
“I don’t know which one of you is hotter, you guys are total smoke shows. Unfortunately, Martin Scorsese isn’t here tonight, but that’s not going to stop me from letting everyone in this room know that I would toss him around like a little Italian meatball”
However, it was her subsequent remark that appeared to throw shade at one of Koy’s statements during his hosting gig. Receiving ample applause from the audience, Handler thanked them for laughing at her jokes, saying, “Thank you for laughing at that. My writers wrote it.” The comment was a direct reference to a line Koy had used to defend himself.
“Yo, I got the gig 10 days ago,” he quipped in response to the lack of laughter at his jokes before adding, “I wrote some of these and they’re the ones you’re laughing at.” The audience, many of whom were in attendance at the Golden Globes, appeared to catch the reference and gave Handler a round of applause for her well-timed humorous response.
Chelsea Handler And Jo Koy Were Together For a Year
Chelsea Handler and Jo Koy have known to be friends for years. However, the former couple reportedly started seeing each other around late 2020 and early 2021. They have talked about each other in interviews and soon confirmed their relationship on Instagram.
Handler even went on to state that Koy “renewed my faith in men, in love.” They have shared that both of them had crushes on each other before they officially got together. However, nearly a year into their relationship, they announced their split in 2022. Initial reports suggested that they were still on good terms, and there were hopes they would work things out.
However, in a later interview, Chelsea Handler opened up about their split, saying, “I am not going to change the way that I behave in order to make you feel more comfortable.” She also shared that the relationship gave her hope and changed her perspective on marriage. However, neither of them clearly stated who ended the relationship.
