Call of Duty has been a long-running franchise and one that many would remember playing in their childhood. Unfortunately, it has not been holding up to the standard gamers have in contemporary times, allowing new games like Helldivers 2 to easily create a legacy of their own in contrast to the declining popularity of CoD.

Despite a stark difference between the two franchises, it remains clear as day that Helldivers 2 is doing something right that Activision is failing to achieve. While it can be a majority of factors, critics have managed to point out where exactly CoD might be lacking in terms of delivering a better experience to players.

Why Helldivers 2 Is Superior To Call of Duty In Contemporary Times

Helldivers, a franchise developed by Arrowhead Studios has been in the spotlight for a while now and has managed to maintain retention of a large player base ever since its release back in February. While the game dominates the Top-Selling charts on its respective platforms, it begs the question of what it is doing right.

As pointed out by Paul Tassi, a senior contributor at Forbes, what makes the title different is how it fails to follow the traditional storyline progressing methods that games have come up with in the last few years. This refers to the season system many games have implemented, including Call of Duty, which is also exactly the reason why the franchise will continue to decline in popularity if Activision doesn’t freshen up things soon.

Activision needs to freshen up the Call of Duty franchise

As noted by Tassi, what Arrowhead Studio manages to execute exceptionally well is the constant addition of new enemies to fight against, new cosmetics, weapons, arsenal, and other similar content from time to time.

If Activision, the studio responsible for maintaining the legacy of the Call of Duty fails to achieve something similar soon, then the franchise is certainly doomed to plummet till it is not remembered by anyone anymore in a few coming years.

However, it would be foolish to not acknowledge how Helldivers 2 has its own set of problems, starting with how players have witnessed the constant arrival of bugs and similar issues from the very first day of the title’s release.

The One Con Of Sony’s Helldivers 2

As mentioned, players who have been playing the game ever since it came out would know how the studio suffered with maintaining the servers of the game, causing a big challenge for them to solve. Furthermore, while the problem with the servers has been resolved and dusted, the game right now still faces a huge issue with how the mechanic of fire works.

Fire is way too overpowered in the current state of the game

As admitted by one of the community managers for the game, Twinbeard, Fire is ridiculously‘ overpowered right now, and holds the ability to burn the player to a crisp within the blink of an eye. He revealed how the studio is currently looking forward to reworking the mechanic of fire as a whole, including all its elements such as Damage Per Second (DPS) and Damage Over Time (DOT).

Helldivers 2 is available to purchase on Steam.
