In an interview with Entertainment Tonight Henry Cavill opened up about wanting to push the boundaries of his physique as much as possible for his roles. Cavill had previously said that he was in the best shape of his life for the role. Thus, the interviewer pointed out that he has played Superman and wondered how his physique could possibly be better than that.

He praised his trainer, Dave Rienzi, who makes achieving the impossible, possible. The actor stated that the two of them are constantly working together to make sure the actor’s next physique is better than the last.

“Every time I get into shape for a movie or a TV show, it is always trying to upgrade from the last one. And my trainer Dave Rienzi pushes me to the point where it is the absolute maximum for that job. And then in between jobs we’ll work to improve it and then on the next job again, try and push the envelope more. Each time, if I am doing it right, I should be in better shape.”

Cavill continued that looking your best is part of the filmmaking experience as it is all, ultimately, about aesthetics.

“Because we are working in the medium of film, it is all about the aesthetic. And it is how one looks – if one looks a certain degree better than you looked previously. Some people won’t notice the difference. But people like myself and Dave do. Because we’re going through the finite process of changing things.”

Fans realized that Cavill was true to his words the moment they saw the trailer for The Witcher at Comic-Con 2019. In fact, any shirtless scene in the show will tell you the story behind Cavill’s discipline and dedication to doing the very best for his characters.

Why Does Henry Cavill Go Through Such Strenuous Training?

Cavill has got it all. Swoon-worthy looks, talent-filled to the brim, and a personality so charming it’s bound to sweep you off your feet. All of these traits are enough to help Cavill deliver incredible performances. Why does he then put himself through such torturous training that can easily put others to shame?

Well, the answer is simple – Cavill has too much respect for his characters. He told Men’s Health,

“I’m representing important characters here. I don’t want to be a Dumpy Geralt or a fat Superman…I know what it feels like to go from out of shape to in shape and [afterward[ I’ll look at myself like, ‘Man, well done.’ It’s not like I’m a golden god – I’m just proud of what I have achieved.”

And proud he should be! There aren’t many who can say they are as disciplined as Cavill when it comes to treating their bodies like a temple. We cannot wait to see what the actor does next!
