Counting all the games in the Gears of War franchise, E-Day will be the seventh mainline entry in the series. Turning the clock back to the very first invasion of the Locust is an interesting narrative decision by The Coalition, and fans are eager to see what they accomplish.

With the game showcasing the first time humanity came into contact with the Locust hordes, we may see events that have only been referenced in the current games. Along with the campaign references, fans also want to see other features make it into the upcoming release.

As we progress through the generations of gaming, nostalgia has become an important factor for many players. There’s nothing quite like taking a trip down memory lane with maps we remember from previous titles. That’s why gamers hope developers make faithful remasters and references to older titles in new games.

This is the demand from Gears of War fans for E-Day with regard to the multiplayer maps. The map being discussed today is Day One, one of the first maps shown before the release of Gears of War 2. Redditor Nightrain1899 posted a screenshot of the location, stating they missed the arena and wished it was present in Gears 5.

Many comments in the thread are reliving their good old days, recounting how they would spend time with their friends on this map.

Including the map in Gears of War: E-Day would be great for more reasons than pure nostalgia; it would also fit into the narrative. Day One shows how the world was on the first day of the invasion, as is evident by the still-standing structures. A revamped version would fit right into the game’s story.

Setting the game during the events of the very first Locust invasion allows The Coalition to give us a new look at the titular characters, Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago. While they are still experienced veterans, they have never faced anything like Locusts. This allows for a narrative where they are not only out of their depth but also vulnerable and on edge.

Fans of the series will also get their first proper look at the world before it was laid to waste. Most Gears of War titles are set in locations that feature ruins or wastelands with little to no development. Before the Locusts invaded, Sera was a bustling metropolis, and we will finally see it in all its glory.

With a launch window slated for next year, fans of the series are in for a bit of a wait before they can get their hands on E-Day. But the expectations are already soaring, and so are the demands. The Coalition should keep track of some forums so they can appease their fans.

What are you hoping to see in the upcoming game? Let us know in the comments below!
