Even the brightest of stars sometimes fall short of igniting an epic creation. This is the general consensus that many Star Wars fans have developed about the recently aired The Acolyte. Spoiler for The Acolyte Season 1 Episode 8

The Acolyte, since its very start, has been facing a torrent of criticism and backlash. Described by many as too woke and Disney forcibly trying to push the woke agenda into the beloved saga created by George Lucas, the series has been at the receiving end of criticism, the majority of the time.

Yet, there was some hope that it might save itself as a worthy addition to the space opera franchise. But as fans had anticipated, even in its end, the Amandla Stenberg-starrer series has been a major letdown.

The season finale, aka the eighth episode of the series, featured Mae learning the truth about Sol and fans getting all the answers they have been waiting for. It is revealed that Lee Jung-jae‘s Master Sol is responsible for killing Mae and Osha’s mother and that the Jedi actually killed the entire witch coven, and not Mae.

Osha later ends up killing her former master without any weapon, making her move to the dark side complete. One thing leads to another and Osha, on the promise of having her sister freed, agrees to become the Stranger’s apprentice. Mae then has her memory wiped off by the Sith and discovered by the Jedi.

The series then ends with Vernestra lying to the Senate about the events and asking Senator Rayencourt to keep the Jedi in check and later going off to Yoda to help her. A shock from start to finish, the episode, nonetheless, is one confusing mess with too many cliffhangers, and overall bad writing and bad acting from some actors.

The Acolyte season finale ended on a huge cliffhanger by introducing Yoda to the tale. By showing the Jedi not being as noble a force that everyone thought them to be and many more unanswered questions left in the possibility of being answered in season 2, The Acolyte fails to live up to the hype.

After the premiere of the season finale of the series and the possibility of another season, this is what fans had to say about the series:

The Acolyte has faced criticism and dissatisfaction from fans throughout its run, and its final episode has done little to change that perception. While some fans went on to express delight and excitement seeing the possibility of another season, the series struggles to live up to the high expectations set by the Star Wars franchise.
