Nicholas Hoult’s Thrilling Passion for Racing Could Result in Heinous Injuries

Nicholas Hoult is nothing like his character Nux from Mad Max: Fury Road. But both of them do have one thing in common: a passion for high-speed motorsports. It’s because of this deep love that the actor has spent the last couple of years completely immersing himself in the racing world with team Ferrari.

The actor has completed the rigorous Corso Pilota driving school as well as emerged triumphant at the Ferrari Challenge in Watkins Glen, New York. It was after this victory that he got on a call with Interview Magazine to detail his pursuits both on and off-screen. The host asked the actor how his driving stint in real life differed from his role in Mad Max: Fury Road.

Nicholas Hoult recalled the adrenaline-pumping moments on the set of the movie, where the roar of dozens of revving engines created an electrifying atmosphere. Further, the high-intensity scenes, similar to the energy found at Formula 1 races, were undeniably thrilling. The actor brought out a huge difference between the movie and the real world by focusing on what truly happens behind the wheel.

In a movie, the stunt drivers often handle the extreme driving while actors focus on their roles. In contrast, racing with Ferrari places the actor directly in control. Hoult added, “If things go wrong, it’s your fault,” highlighting the personal responsibility and pressure of being behind the wheel.

Nicholas Hoult looks completely Lex Luther-coded and is all set to play the antagonist in the upcoming Superman Legacy. However, recent images of the actor offered a closer look at his transformation into the legendary supervillain. Hoult shared a couple of pictures on his official Instagram account showcasing his freshly shaved head, aligning perfectly with Luther’s traditional bald appearance.

Earlier reports closer to James Gunn‘s production had confirmed that the actor would embrace the classic bald Lex Luther aesthetic. But these images surely provide a closer look to the audience on what to expect from Hoult. While Luther was often depicted with a shaved head in previous portrayals and comics, not all interpretations adhere to this look.

For instance, Jesse Eisenberg played a long-haired Lex Luther in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Only later did the actor reveal a shaved head in subsequent appearances. Further, the animated series My Adventures with Superman also introduced Luther with hair (via CBR), indicating that the character’s appearance might vary across different adaptations.

Superman Legacy is scheduled for a theatrical release on July 11, 2025.
