Having already starred in the biggest blockbuster of the year so far, Zendaya is once again set to take the spotlight at the box office with her upcoming sports drama, Challengers. With the film sitting in the high 90s at the Tomatometer as of writing, things are looking promising for the Luca Guadagnino-led romance, which made waves following the threeway kiss in its trailer.

Unsurprisingly, following the nature of the feature, the film has been rated R ahead of its US release, and the Far From Home star made sure to give her family a warning ahead of watching.

While Zendaya is notable for her gigs in the Spider-Man features and now Dune, the actress hasn’t shied away from tackling difficult roles, with one prominent example being her work in Euphoria. And with Challengers earning an R rating for “strong language throughout, some s-xual content, and graphic n-dity,” young fans of the Dune star are going to miss out on her brilliance.

Furthermore, Zendaya revealed she gave her family a heads-up ahead of them watching the film following its graphic nature. Considering she was aware when the graphic scenes would roll onscreen, the No Way Home star made sure to check on her family’s reaction, which she found hilarious.

She told Jimmy Kimmel:

“Well they know it’s a Rated-R movie OK so I was like you know, walking into this, ‘If you can’t handle the heat get out the kitchen. But I forewarned them. It was honestly my favorite part of the night ’cause I’ve seen the movie many times. I know when the scenes are coming so when those scenes were happening I just was watching my family because they were behind me, so I just watched them the whole time, it was hilarious.”

At least in this case, her parents did have some time to prepare for the graphic scenes, which can’t be said for the parents of her Euphoria costar.

Sydney Sweeney’s Father Wasn’t Ready for Euphoria

While Sydney Sweeney‘s mom and grandma were aware of the nature of her HBO show, which delved into s-x, violence, and drugs, the scream queen‘s father was totally oblivious to it.

This wasn’t surprising, as Sweeney revealed the father and daughter duo rarely talked about her work, and would often engage in normal father-daughter conversations. As a result, when her dad, alongside Sweeney’s grandpa, decided to tune into Euphoria, they were reasonably taken aback and had to turn it off and walk out.

The Immaculate star revealed:

“I mean, how do you bring it up in conversation? And also, when I talk to my dad, it’s usually not about work. We talk, like, father-daughter conversations. He decided he was going to watch it, without telling me, with his parents. My dad and my grandpa turned it off and walked out,”

On the other hand, Sweeney revealed her grandma was a big fan of her work, and the actress would often take her along on her sets and make her an extra.

Challengers is set to release on 26 April, 2024.

Euphoria is available to stream on Max.
