Men In Black star Will Smith walked up on the stage and slapped the comedian Chris Rock across the face. The actor had slapped Rock for joking about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head, which she has been doing since 2021 due to a rare illness.

The next day, he also issued an apology to Rock and the Academy via social media platform. The actor resigned from his Academy membership on April 1 and got banned from attending Academy events for ten years.
