The couple welcomed their children, Apple and Moses, and announced their separation in March 2014. Martin has shared that despite their split, both of them are very close and have decided to co-parent their children.

The Iron Man actress was also engaged to the Babylon star Brad Pitt for a brief period before they called it quits. After her split from Pitt, Paltrow got together with the Coldplay singer Chris Martin. They got married and started a family. However, Martin somehow felt insecure, considering his ex-wife’s dating history.
During an interview with Rolling Stone, he opened up about feeling insecure as he shared that he felt the need to prove himself as his wife went out with Brad Pitt. He said that he feels great to be with a “powerful woman” as it motivates him to improve.
“You’ve got to be hungry. If your wife went out with Brad Pitt, you’d want to prove yourself. You know what I mean?”
He also added that being with someone as successful as his ex-wife “keeps him hungry” to improve himself in every way possible. However, the Sliding Doors star has called her marriage to Chris Martin one of the best things to happen to her.
Chris Martin Did Not Want to be a Public Couple
During an interview with Elle UK, Gwyneth Paltrow opened up about her and her then husband’s preferences about keeping their marriage private. The actress shared that the singer is not interested in keeping their marriage public and attending public events with her. The Oscar-winning actress said that she doesn’t care if anyone thinks that was because they have issues in their relationship.
“It doesn’t behoove us to be a public couple. He certainly doesn’t want to be that. We’ve never ever walked down a red carpet together. We never will. If people think that that means we’re not together, then — ha ha ha! — so be it.”
In their separation announcement, Martin and Paltrow mentioned that while they love each other, they have decided to separate. Paltrow would go on to marry Brad Falchuk, and Martin has been in a relationship with the Hollywood star Dakota Johnson since his split from the Shallow Hal actress.
