There is a major easter egg in The Continental
The directors of The Continental: From the World of John Wick, Albert Hughes and Charlotte Brändström, previously appeared for an interview with Pinkvilla and revealed that there are many easter eggs in the show. Hughes explained,
“The fun part was putting the Easter eggs in for the fans and the little ones that if you’re a hardcore fan, you pick up on them all, you know, and like, let’s see if we can get over on on on the fans here. And let’s say, I put something on a license plate in episode 3. And if you read the license plate, it’s a throwback to film three of the film series.”
Hughes highlighted the most exciting easter egg in the franchise which fans can spot in the third episode. The second episode will be available for streaming on September 29, 2023, and the third episode will be available on October 6th, 2023.
The show features Mel Gibson and Colin Woodell
Further in the interview, Hughes talked about working with Mel Gibson, who appears as Cormac in the series,
“The fun thing with Mel is that, I don’t know if most people know that a lot of that lethal weapon stuff, his zingers, his one-liners, that’s him. That’s how his mind works, you know? So I’d go up to him and I’d say, hey, listen, uh, you need to insult this guy. Can you say this? And he’ll, he’d take the word and spit it out a different way. Like he used, he just, he was wonderful with stuff like that with, uh, also the other actors were really great with, I’m big into like improv and ad lib.”
Overall, the experience was quite exciting. It’s surely interesting to see the John Wick franchise expanding. A spin-off film named Ballerina is also in the works. Featuring Ana de Armas, the film is set between the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (2019) and John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023).
The first episode of The Continental is available for streaming on Peacock in the United States, and Amazon Prime Video globally.
