Joseph Quinn will begin filming his role as Human Torch in the MCU film, The Fantastic Four, later this year. Quinn’s one-word reaction on Instagram to his casting news earlier became a talk among Marvel fandom, who felt the response was quite underwhelming (via @josephquinn). However, he has used more than a few words in sharing his excitement for the role during his appearance at the FACTS Comic-Con.

At the convention, Quinn was asked by a fan about his casting in The Fantastic Four. The Stranger Things actor shared that it was an easy decision to become part of the cast. He shared that the film has a great group under the visionary director Matt Shakman. He added that he had already spoken to the director about his role. Quinn shared (via @F4Update):

“I’m really excited! I still can’t believe it, it’s crazy. We have a great group. When I spoke to Matt, the director, he had a brilliant vision for this, and the group we have, it was an easy decision. I definitely wanted to be a part of it.”

When another fan asked the actor if he was doing anything specifically to prepare for the role, Quinn had a rather witty reply. He jokingly told the fan that he would be setting himself on fire every day to get into the character. He shared, “I’ll be setting myself on fire for real. Every day. Joseph Quinn’s iteration follows Chris Evans‘ version in the 2005 Fantastic Four film and Michael B. Jordan‘s role in the 2015 reboot. After the initial casting announcement of the lead actors, the film has also cast Ozark fame Julia Garner as the Shalla-Bal version of Silver Surfer (via Deadline). There have been no other updates about other characters, but rumors suggest that Galactus will be the villain in the film.
