American comedian and actor Larry David is mourning the loss of one of his dearest friends and co-stars Richard Lewis. David and Lewis worked together in the HBO television sitcom Curb Your Enthusiasm, which aired for the first time in the year 2000 and is still running. Lewis was a celebrity guest star who used to play a fictionalized version of himself in the sitcom.

Larry David Paid a Heartfelt Tribute to Friend and Co-star Richard Lewis
The past year had fans bid adieu to some of their favorite actors, such as FRIENDS star Matthew Perry and Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Andre Braugher. The passing away of these actors came as a shock to many, and fans across the world expressed their grief over losing them.
Last year, Richard Lewis announced that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. In 2021, he revealed that he will not be returning for Season 11 of Curb Your Enthusiasm so that he can recover from three surgeries. Much to the surprise of everyone, he returned for a single episode of Season 11.
At the time, Larry David‘s happiness knew no bounds as he even hugged Lewis. The late actor told Variety:
“When I walked in and they applauded, I felt like a million bucks. Larry doesn’t like to hug, and he hugged me and told me how happy he was after we shot our scene.”
Lewis passed away at the age of 76 due to a heart attack, and David has expressed his sadness in a heartfelt tribute shared by HBO (via Variety):
“He had that rare combination of being the funniest person and also the sweetest. But today he made me sob and for that I’ll never forgive him.”
The two actors had a brotherly bond for most of their lives, so Lewis’ death must feel like a personal loss to Larry David.
Jamie Lee Curtis Paid Tribute to Richard Lewis
Academy Award-winning actress Jamie Lee Curtis is also one of Richard Lewis’ many co-stars and friends. The two worked together in the sitcom. Anything but love, which was aired for four seasons from 1989 to 1992.
Curtis took to Instagram to pay tribute to her late co-star as she wrote in the caption:
“Richard’s last text to me, was hoping that I could convince ABC/Disney to put out another boxed set of episodes of the show. He also is the reason I am sober. He helped me. I am forever grateful for him for that act of grace alone.”
Numerous other co-workers and friends of the late comedian have paid tribute to him on social media. This shows how loved Lewis was and how much all these people, including Larry David and Jamie Lee Curtis, are going to miss him.
