The winners for the 2024 Oscars are all set to be announced on the tenth of March and fans couldn’t be more excited. On one hand, there are some clear fan-favorite nominees and on the other hand, underdogs are giving serious competition to the first category. For example, while Cillian Murphy seems to be the obvious winner at the moment, Bradley Cooper fans are rooting for the actor to win Best Actor for his performance in Maestro.

Needless to say, fans of the film industry are divided into groups as they stand behind their favorite artist/film to win at the 2024 Oscars, resulting in entertaining yet pointless rivalries. One such rivalry seems to be between fans of Emma Stone and Lily Gladstone, both of whom are nominated in the Best Actress category. However, while fans may not see eye-to-eye, things couldn’t be better between the two actresses.

As fans of Lily Gladstone and Emma Stone battle it out on social media and claim that one is more worthy of the Oscar than the other, the two actresses are chilling in their lives. In fact, Gladstone herself does not believe in keeping problematic rivalries with her fellow Oscar nominees.

During an interview with The New Yorker, Gladstone was asked if her Killers of the Flower Moon co-actors –Leonardo DiCaprio, Martin Scorsese, and Robert De Niro – had some advice for her this award season. To this, she replied,

“What I really appreciate is: there’s not this protective, patriarchal ‘Let me give you advice, kid’ sort of thing. Anytime Leo’s done it, it’s been completely self-aware and joking. He’s kind of a goofball and a wise-a*s. They lead by example.”

Lily Gladstone continued that it was quite grounding for her to be surrounded by the people who are so used to this environment. She went on to praise other Oscar nominees, including America Ferrera (Barbie) and Stone who is nominated for Best Actress for her work in Poor Things.

“That’s been the most grounding thing, because I’ve been able to be in proximity to people who are so used to it. And meeting other people I’m just so excited by—how quickly America Ferrera took to me. I’m a huge fan of Emma Stone, and she’s been lovely, and all of these people that are now in a peer group, I guess. You just get the sense that it’s not as big or scary as you need to make it. It’s just about human connection in the end.”

Stone and Gladstone’s fans are more than welcome to parade for their favorite actress but their rivalries will not sour the friendship between the respect the two actresses have for each other.

Apart from Stone and Gladstone, Annette Bening (Nyad), Carey Mulligan (Maestro), and Sandra Hüller (Anatomy of a Fall) are also nominated in the ‘Actress in a Leading Role’ category.

As the 96th Academy Awards approach, nominees must have butterflies in their stomachs as they anticipate the results of the prestigious ceremony. Coming so close to the win and losing is never a pleasant experience but something tells us that Stone wouldn’t be too upset if she lost to Gladstone.

During the 2024 Screen Actors Guild awards, Stone and Gladstone were nominated for ‘Female Actor in a Leading Role – Motion Picture’ and the latter ended up taking the award home. And while Stone had all the reason to be upset or frustrated, she was actually really happy for her co-nominee.

As soon as Gladstone was announced as the winner, Stone jumped in her chair and with a huge smile, started wildly clapping for the actress. Take a look at her adorable reaction below:

This is enough to know that the La La Land actress will be happy for Gladstone should the latter win the Oscar this year. We love women lifting other women. After all, female rivalries are a little overdone now!
