Antony Starr comes from New Zealand and is generally loved for his calm nature and quick wit whenever the situation arises. He also goes the extra mile for any role he portrays, but even he has his limits. In fact, Starr was revealed when he had to stop doing stunt work in a very demanding show that cost him physically.
Antony Starr has also been part of films such as The World’s Fastest Indian, After The Waterfall, Terror Peak and more. That said, there is one particular series that helped him find his feet in the USA a long time ago.
Antony Starr Was Glad He Didn’t Have To Do Stunts Anymore For A Very ‘Brutal’ Series
Antony Starr gained global recognition for his performance in The Boys, but it wasn’t his first rodeo. With a wealth of experience on the small screen, the 48-year-old actor previously contributed to the crime thriller Banshee.
While speaking to The New Zealand Herald, Antony Starr talked about his time working on Banshee. Playing an enigmatic career criminal, Starr’s character undergoes a twist of fate upon his release from prison and a lot of bizarre things happen throughout the show. That said, Starr was glad he didn’t have to do stunts anyone for the series, which he described as brutal.
“When fight training goes wrong,” he laughs. “It’s a pretty brutal, physically demanding show, and I like to try to do whatever I can. But more and more as I get older, I’m happy to be on the bench. I’d rather tag in with my stunt guy and let him take the knocks. We’ve got a great stunt team too – they’re always coming up with fresh, cool ideas, and they let me get involved and mix things up. I can be that pain-in-the-ass actor putting his two cents in.”
Antony Starr wouldn’t be the big star that he is right now if it weren’t for Banshee and for that, he forever remains grateful for his time on the show. That said, he is more than happy about not getting injured on set.
Antony Starr Is Undeniably The Biggest Star In The Boys
The Boys stars Antony Starr as Homelander – the most complex and mentally damaged character in the series, whose homicidal tendencies have led to the show’s most shocking yet watched moments. After all, he was a manufactured super soldier – something that sets the tone for the destruction that takes place throughout the series.
Antony Starr truly became a major star thanks to the show, as he displayed a lot of nuanced and intricate emotions for a lot of his scenes – displaying a level of acting prowess that many actors could only dream of having. Therefore, it goes without saying that he is the heart and soul of the show – without him things wouldn’t have gone well.
