Popular for making some of the most impactful and resonating drama films in the past, the shift to the action genre has definitely presented actress Brie Larson in a whole new light, especially since she became part of the MCU as Captain Marvel. And now, with her career in the cinematic universe spanning almost half a decade, she is ready to make her appearance once again in her upcoming film The Marvels.

But while the promotion for her upcoming film has been going on in full swing since the early part of this year, there has been a development within the production that has left the actress behind and debarred her from being part of any of the promotional tour, which has concerned the movie’s director about what level of success they can achieve without the lead actress’ involvement.

While it looked like it would become a good year for Marvel Studios with the initiation of Phase Five of the MCU coming into effect, it has sadly been quite the opposite. The lackluster performance of Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania was thankfully subsidized by Guardians Of The Galaxy: Vol. 3, and its wonderful reception by the fans, has evened out the field for the MCU. And now, as the next major film is on its way to cinemas, which happens to be Brie Larson‘s The Marvels, the cause for concern is bigger than ever before.

With the promotional tour for the aforementioned film kicking into high gear as the release date inches closer, what surprised most fans and the audience was the absence of the Fast X star as she is arguably the face of the film. And not just the public, director Nia DaCosta is just as concerned, if not more, about the non-participation of the lead actress because of the SAG-AFTRA strike taking place in Hollywood currently.

During a recent interview, the director voiced these concerns, saying the film’s performance might take a significant hit if she’s the only one making an effort. Speaking with The Abbotsford News, she said:

They’re going to be like, ‘Where’s Brie Larson?'”

Her concerns about the upcoming film being presented to the public to bring this to their notice brings into focus the lead star’s absence to market their films.

While the film may have been a long time in the making, the recent development with two consecutive strikes from the WGA and the SAG-AFTRA has made the entire industry a very volatile environment to execute promotional tactics and marketing strategies to bring in the type of engagement required for a film of this caliber to become a success.

While not too much is known about the film’s details, the trailers have more than hyped the fans of the MCU for this film, which will be one of the reasons for its success in cinemas, and if executed correctly, the promotional tour will bring in the rest of the required engagement, even if it has to be without the lead actress.
