It’s difficult to imagine anyone other than Daniel Radcliffe playing the boy wizard in Harry Potter. However, a reboot show has already been announced on HBO Max with one book getting adapted every season. The cast hasn’t been announced yet, but fans of the franchise are going through a variety of emotions since the announcement.

But what about Radcliff? Will he return to the franchise if given the chance? The star isn’t interested in closing any doors no matter his disagreements with series creator J.K. Rowling. Chances are he isn’t going to play the titular character anymore. But there are other supporting characters he wants to slip into.

Daniel Radcliffe is still known for playing Harry Potter all over the globe more than any other character. He also earned $95.6 million from the franchise as a whole. As such, one has to wonder if he has had apprehensions about other actors playing the role in the future.

Radcliffe mentioned that he was never under any illusion that he would be the only one to play Harry. The actor said:

“I’m sure there will be some other version of it; I know I’m not the last Harry Potter I’m gonna see in my lifetime – we’ve already got a few more.”

But will the Horns actor come back to his most popular role? He is willing to give it a shot. The actor once told The Hollywood Reporter that he isn’t closing the door on the franchise. Radcliffe said:

“I’m never going to close the door; that would be a stupid thing to do. But I think I’ll be happy enough and secure enough to let someone else play it.” 

It’s clear that his days of playing the titular character are long over. So which other character in the franchise would he love to play?

Daniel Radcliffe Reveals The Harry Potter Characters He Wants To Play

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Daniel Radcliffe revealed that he was interested in playing Sirius Black and Lupin if given the chance because they are amazing characters. He said:

“I guess Lupin and Sirius Black are both incredibly cool characters. Though I have to say, it’s also [because] I probably am biased a little because I love both the actors [David Thewlis and Gary Oldman] that played them. But yeah, I’d probably have to say one of those two.”

The actor also complimented Gary Oldman during the Return to Hogwarts reunion and said that he was charmed by his acting intensity and humor. Radcliffe gushed:

“To watch you guys act but also as people, these incredible actors… you’d have fun in between takes, it could be intense and you’d show me that side as well which was really important.” 

Nothing much has been announced about the Harry Potter reboot till now. But it will be interesting to see if Radcliffe can get a role in the new HBO Max series.
