Recently, on Instagram, James Gunn, CEO of DC Studios, had to respond to a disturbing allegation from a netizen who accused the filmmaker of visiting deceased s*x offender Jeffrey Epstein’s island. Amidst a convoluted climate following the unsealing of court documents tied to the disgraced financier, initially speculated to be a “client list” (which it is not), several rumors currently cloud the social media sphere. It seems that Gunn, unfortunately, found himself entangled in one.

The records being made public are part of a lawsuit that Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s victims, filed against socialite Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s former girlfriend, in 2015. Many were led to believe that unheard and unseen information regarding Epstein’s clients or co-conspirators would be made public when the previously sealed documents were ordered to be released.
The judge, who called for the records’ release, claimed that she was only doing so since a significant amount of the information was already public.
It is crucial to remember that some of the individuals these documents mention aren’t accused of wrongdoing. However, misinformation surrounding the colloquially termed “list” has taken precedence on the Internet.
James Gunn Responds To A Fan’s Disturbing Allegations
Those unrelated to the Epstein case have become entangled in the conspiracies following the documents’ unsealing. In fact, individuals on social media latched on to the names that appeared in passing during depositions as evidence of potential misconduct.
Jimmy Kimmel, a late-night host, was among those who became embroiled due to tin-foiled hearsay and conjecture about whose names might be in the documents. The records made public so far do not contain the name of the television celebrity.
James Gunn, the co-CEO of DC Studios, appears to have encountered similar accusations following this. Although not tied to the recently released documents, he was accused of being associated with Jeffrey Epstein in some capacity. Commenting on an Instagram post that mentioned the GOTG director’s sobriety and tagged the renowned filmmaker, one user wrote, “Was that before or after you went to Epstein’s island?”
Gunn responded with a linked attachment (via DocumentCloud) of recorded flight logs, stating the following:
“Some fan—distributing online lies without bothering to check out if they’re true or not. Here’s the flight logs. Spoiler: I’m not on them (ofc) [sic].”

While most of the Internet has resorted to making memes and jokes following the records’ release, we must remember the grave criminal charges and their repercussions on the victims at the forefront of the discussion.
James Gunn Replied To Fans’ Questions About Upcoming DCU Projects
Besides replying to the trolls, Gunn occasionally answers questions from fans about upcoming DCU initiatives. Two days ago, the filmmaker addressed several rumors and gave specific updates about a few projects on Threads. Among the queries brought to the DC Studios co-CEO’s attention, one user mentioned the prospect of seeing a Superman: Legacy trailer in 2024. To this, James Gunn responded:
“No. We don’t begin filming until March. Writing is basically done and has been for a while, other than a comma here [and] … there.”
The studio executive also provided information about Peacemaker Season 2, which Gunn had before disclosed will be canonical to the DCU. A fan inquired about the John Cena starrer’s writing progress. The director revealed (via Threads) that the premise has been “over halfway written.”

Another user, commending James Gunn’s capacity to breeze through his projects, asked how many other endeavors the filmmaker is currently writing. He replied:
“Just [Peacemaker] season 2 right now, while I prep [Superman] Legacy.”
The highly-anticipated Superman: Legacy will star David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan as Clark Kent and Lois Lane. Reports previously revealed that the filming, slated to commence in March, was expected to last around July.
