Being the youngest of the cast, Kaley Cuoco didn’t initially hang out much with the other guys, as Johnny Galecki recalled she might not have known that they were hanging out all the time. However, things changed during their trip to Montecito, as after Galecki left a voicemail to the actress, Cuoco revealed she broke up with her partner and was coming straight to them.

He said (via Vanity Fair):

Well, I’m not that easy, Kaley. I’m not just a piece of meat. There’s a heart in here. There’s real blood that pumps through my veins, believe it or not. I have feelings. At least take me to dinner and a show first! Bug in her room. Jeez.

While Cuoco couldn’t believe that the actor turned down her advances, Galecki would later be the one to initiate the first step in their bond after the dust from her break-up eventually settled.

After the duo parted ways in 2009, there was a notable upsurge in the onscreen romance scenes between Penny and Leonard. This made the duo suspicious, as both thought showrunner Chuck Lorre was just having fun at their expense by increasing the number of intimate scenes between the two. The Flight Attendant star shared (via Variety):

All of a sudden, we started noticing there were extra makeout scenes for our characters, and/or s*x scenes. I was like, ‘I think Chuck is f*cking with us!’ We were convinced. Convinced! Like, Yeah, they want to date and break up on my show, well, here you go! and he was writing all the little doodads in there.

However, Lorre denied these claims, as he explained that there was no room for such instances when it came to making a good show, which the showrunner was successful in doing.

The Big Bang Theory is available to stream on Max.
