Singer/songwriter and actor Lindsay Lohan has very little intention of walking with female actors amid the #MeToo movement. Several actors came out to reveal how they were sexually abused in the industry. It was an attempt to end sexual assault and to support the voice of the women in the industry.
The movement was born and reached its peak after former producer Harvey Weinstein was accused of sexual assault. Following The New York Times’ story on the mogul detailing decades of allegations. It shook Hollywood but for Lohan, he had a different perspective.
Lindsay Lohan Was Critical About The #MeToo Movement
Workplace sexual assaults have been a modern-day curse for both male and female employees. Many of those assaults go unnoticed but thanks to #MeToo movement several cases of such misconduct came to light. Hollywood in particular, has been a strong advocate of the movement. Mean Girls star Lindsay Lohan, however, was not a strong supporter of the movement. Speaking with The Times she called these women ‘weak.’
“I can’t speak on something I don’t live, right? Look, I am very supportive of women. Everyone goes through their own experiences in their own ways. If it happens at that moment, you discuss it at that moment. You make it a real thing by making it a police report,” Lohan said.
The 37-year-old has a different perception of women. Certainly, she advocates the strength of women measuring their power to take immediate action. “I’m going to really hate myself for saying this, but I think by women speaking against these things,” Lohan continued adding, “it makes them look weak when they are very strong women.”
Further, she called these women attention seekers. “You have these girls who come out, who don’t even know who they are, who do it for the attention,” she added. That is taking away from the fact that it happened.” Referring to her physical fight with her ex-fiancé, the Freaky Friday star added that she didn’t do anything about it but rather showed her eventual success calling it the ultimate revenge.
Lindsay Lohan Came In Support For Harvey Weinstein
While Hollywood was on the verge of boycotting the former film producer and convicted s*x offender Harvey Weinstein, Lohan came in support of him. It was a shocker for many as it came at the time when Weinstein’s own company sacked the producer after the allegations of sexual misconduct escalated. Taking to Instagram, Lohan defended the producer and criticized Georgina Chapman who announced leaving the offender.
“I feel very bad for Harvey Weinstein right now,” she wrote. “I don’t think it’s right what’s going on.” She added, “He’s never harmed me or did anything to me – we’ve done several movies together. I think everyone needs to stop – I think it’s wrong. So stand up,” Lohan wrote on Instagram (via Deadline).
Further, she addressed Chapman, an actor and fashion designer, and Weinstein’s ex-wife criticizing her decision to leave the former producer. Chapman needed to “take a stand and be there for her husband,” Lohan wrote, however, the post was soon deleted. Lohan’s defense of Weinstein was definitely a shocker for the Hollywood actors who came forward to reveal their horrible encounter with the producer.
