Jamie Foxx is one of the most commendable actors in all of Hollywood. And yet, even he isn’t invincible when it comes to brutal backlash from audiences, even if it’s for one single mistake. The actor renowned for his Django Unchained role among others once almost became the talk of the town for all the wrong reasons.

In fact, he came as close as within a hair’s breadth to being canceled from his fans’ lists as he committed a similar mistake as Kanye West did, which notably landed him and his career in more than enough trouble: Allegedly made anti-semitic comments, which were honestly anything but well-received by his fans.

Everybody knows what a thriving career Jamie Foxx has led so far by bagging prominent roles in some of the most critically acclaimed projects, like his most recent mystery sci-fi, They Cloned Tyrone. However, this star-studded career almost faced its end after only one statement by him.

Back in August 2023, The Burial actor took to his Instagram handle @iamjamiefoxx to share a post that read (via Variety):

“They killed this dude name Jesus … What do you think they’ll do to you???! #fakefriends #fakelove.”

Inevitably, this post garnered a lot of negative attention and started being deciphered as anti-semitic by his fans, as though Foxx was implying that the Jewish people were the ones who had killed Jesus.

Thankfully, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 actor took matters into his own hands before things could get worse to let his fans know his original intention behind the post. The very next day, not only did the post get deleted, but Foxx even posted an apology statement to his fans on his IG handle:

“I want to apologize to the Jewish community and everyone who was offended by my post. I now know my choice of words have caused offense and I’m sorry. That was never my intent.”

Adding to this was Jamie Foxx clarifying to his fans the real reason behind the post, as the apology statement continued to read:

“To clarify, I was betrayed by a fake friend and that’s what I meant with ‘they’ not anything more. I only have love in my heart for everyone. I love and support the Jewish community. My deepest apologies to anyone who was offended.”

While Foxx’s efforts to win back his fans ended here, he was backed up by some other celebrities who defended him in the comment section, claiming they knew he would never intend anything bad for anyone.

Thus, this way, Jamie Foxx and his flourishing career were saved from all the brutal backlash and controversy. However, the same cannot be said for Kanye West, who made a similar mistake and is still suffering the consequences.

Just like Jamie Foxx, Kanye West too got knee-deep in trouble following his “unplanned” anti-semitic outbursts that he shared with his audiences over the past year. However, Ye’s actions wounded him a lot more brutally than Foxx’s did to him.

Not only did he end up losing multiple creative and business partners and brand sponsorships and partnerships because of these rants, but even the apology he later posted in Hebrew on Instagram wasn’t well-received by his audiences.

Because of all this controversy, Ye’s career has been in much more trouble than ever before. Nonetheless, he has still managed to release at least the first volume of his Vultures album project recently, which will decide the final verdict on whether his career can be saved or not.
