While Kevin Costner is undoubtedly the leader who has held the story together, the rest of the cast members are equally important to the storyline. And Kelsey Asbille, who plays Monica Long, now Dutton, Kayce’s wife, is just as crucial to the storyline as any other.

Taylor Sheridan Created Yellowstone Did Not Deserve One Criticism

When Yellowstone was first released, the show drew a particular kind of audience. The fans of the Western genre and the Southerners we’re the target demography, or that’s what people thought. But with time, that theory proved wrong. Now, the audience is not limited to a certain section of the society but comes from all different parts.

Speaking on that to Esquire back in 2022, Kelsey Asbille said:

I only knew people were watching the show when I’d go home [to South Carolina] at first. It was a real difference to when I’d come back to New York and now, I’m starting to see that bleed over in a really crazy way that I don’t really know how to make sense of.

So honestly, it’s terrifying that people watch the show. Luke [Grimes] actually texted me the other day, “This season’s hitting different?” I’m like yeah, even in New York, yeah, it feels kind of strange. Truly, I don’t know how to process it.

Even the actors initially thought there was a difference when the show premiered. But as more and more people started to watch the Taylor Sheridan show, and it started getting more fame, the actors too found it wild that they had become household names.

What is the Future of Yellowstone?

Yellowstone is coming to an end after five long seasons. The first part of Season 5 premiered back in November of 2022 and lasted until January 2023. And for almost 2 long years, the show has been at a standstill. And with the matter of Kevin Costner still up in the air, things are not looking too great.

The last few episodes of the show, which will make up the second part of the fifth and final season of Yellowstone, are already in production. Shooting has resumed, but there is no news on whether Kevin Costner will return as Jonn Dutton to give the show the perfect closure.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Costner said:

I will come back to the show if it lives up to everything we have been trying to build on that show. It’s just things happened For the show five seasons are a lot… But until somebody says something that makes sense to me, that’s where I stand.

Things are still unclear in the matter. And as fans of the show, we can only hope to get the perfect ending with the whole Dutton family back in the Yellowstone ranch. The final few episodes of Yellowstone are set to premiere on Paramount+ in November of 2024.
